Pitney Bowes Business Insight is currently seeking a User Experience Engineer to join our software development team in creating world-class mapping and location intelligence solutions.
The right candidate will be an integral part of our talented team, supporting our continued growth. This position will be located in our Troy, NY office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Conducting contextual inquiries, through customer visits and interviews, to gain an understanding of users and their work goals
Developing conceptual models and user personas
Performing heuristic analysis and competitive product analysis
Developing user interface designs and prototypes, collaborating with users, product owners, development teams, and other stakeholders
Conducting usability testing and validation
Developing and maintain a user pool for usability testing and validation
Promoting user centered design principles and best practices within PBBI
Assist with other projects as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required


• Master's degree in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Usability Engineering, Cognitive Psychology or related field is preferred


• Minimum of 5+ years experience performing User Experience design in a mature software development organization


• Thorough knowledge and significant experience with User-Centered Design practices: contextual inquiry, persona development, heuristic evaluation, competitive analysis, interface design, rapid prototyping and participatory design, usability testing


• Experience with user research techniques, and interface design and prototyping tools (e.g. Visio, PowerPoint, Visual Basic, Visual Studio, etc)


• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail


• Excellent communication and presentation skills


• Ability to consistently deliver projects on schedule


• Ability to work independently and handle change and shifting priorities


• Must be able to travel up to 30% including overnight and international travel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with mapping/GIS software applications


• Experience with Agile software development practices


• Experience organizing user focus group meetings


• Experience conducting user surveys
