Nielsen IAG collects metrics about every ad, product placement, and program sponsorship occurring across all broadcast and major cable networks during primetime. We conduct over 100,000 surveys daily about the television programs panelists watched the night before, giving marketers the ability to optimize the in-flight performance of their campaigns.

Job Description
The Software Engineer will design and architect sophisticated products for collecting and analyzing research data at Nielsen IAG. This position will also include trouble shooting and requirements gathering. This position works in collaboration with our Production and Research departments, and other company stakeholders to deliver new products and product enhancements.

Responsibilities
-Develop, enhance, maintain, and document web-based, data-driven business applications
-Use Data Modeling, Design Patterns, and Object Oriented Concepts to build these applications
-Problem-solving and debugging/troubleshooting to provide effective solutions
-Work with and investigate Open Source software concepts and practices to create innovative solutions for our products
-Prepare documentation used in the planning and preparation stages of the application and the instructions for its use.
-Conduct appropriate development testing of applications to ensure quality


Requirements

-Evidence of significant software design and problem-solving experience.
-Java EE Technology and JDBC
-Solid knowledge of Object Oriented Programming Methodologies
-Full-lifecycle Java application development experience
-Must have clear understanding of relational data design and modeling concepts.
-Experience with multi-tier systems
-Oracle (SQL, PL/SQL)
-Experience with at least one application server (Jboss, Tomcat)
-Experience with an MVC (Struts or Spring)
-Experience with Web services
-Familiarity with common developer tools (Ant, version control system, etc)
-Experience with/interest in working with Swing/Netbeans/Java RMI
